When a group of over-caffeinated Production Assistants gets the complicated task of picking a name for a concert event blog featuring New York City’s best outdoor venues, scary and often-inappropriate situations occur.
This was the case when Miss Liberty’s PA’s were assigned to the strange and unknown land of blog writing. After a couple of failed attempts, the vision slowly came to life. At least until computer tech problems occurred.
This is why Miss Liberty still carries her filofax one hundred and twenty-three years later, instead of those new fangled ‘puters and blackberry things. Anyways, not to digress…
My blog was born out of Liberty Event’s love of music and for her home base, Liberty State Park, music, and NYC. Yours truly, Miss Liberty, and my immaculate assets are the driving force of this blog. So, this 120-ton oxidized woman is truly a delicious choice as muse and icon.
The name for my blog itself proved drastically harder. After a couple of delightful name ideas including the “8 Inch Finger” and “Can I Sit Down Yet,” my young charges found that blogging (er. writing) was no damn joke.
Out of all the confusion and chaos, a special name, which I quite enjoy, finally rose to the top.
How glorious it is that my young PA’s idea “Notes from the Teeming Shore” emerged triumphant, like a fist-pump for a rousing encore performance. Every time I say it, it makes me want to climb down from my pedestal and hit the mosh pit.
Notes from the Teeming Shore represents all the greatest aspirations of our blog and the truly special concerts we create at both Governors Island and Liberty State Park.
After double-checking that teeming is indeed a word, (Miss Liberty still uses a paper bound object called a dictionary) we decided on the name. “Notes” appropriately represented our challenging writing, while “Teeming Shore” symbolized the mass-filled Liberty State Park especially during our widely successful and absolutely awesome All Points West Music and Arts Festival happening July 31st-August 2nd.
We also wanted to give a flash-back, high five to the millions of immigrants who came through Ellis Island long before we sat at these desks.
So out of all the initial chaos and confusion, a blog of endless aspirations emerged. Timelessly entitled Notes from the Teeming Shore, it will relentlessly climb to its future glory, bringing history, music and occasional senseless raves and ramblings to music fans everywhere.
